Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle (1623-1673) composed Nature Picture in 1671.
The full title of this work is Natures Picture Drawn by Fancies Pencil To the Life. Being several Feigned Stories, Comical, Tragical, Tragi-comical, Poetical, Romancical, Philosophical, Historical, and Moral: Some in Verse, some in Prose; some Mixt, and some by Dialogues. Written by the Thrice Noble, Illustrious, and most Excellent Princess, The Duchess of Newcastle.
    The phrase "weary of time" appears in a poem contained in Nature Picture entitled, "A Tale of his Grace the Duke of Newcastle, called, The Philosopher's Complaint." The speaker in the poem discusses a philosopher lingering at a grave, and this philosopher is pining for the simple existence of animals in nature, for they are void of material desire. Since beasts of nature are void of vanity, they live a coveted life.

"Repining Man, for what is past,
Hating the present what they see,
Frighted with what's to come at last:
Beasts pleas'd with what is, and must be.
Ease Man doth hate, and Business store;
A burthen to himself he is:
Weary of time, yet wishes more:
Beasts all these Vanities they miss."
