Fidelia

She was araied all in lilly white,
     And in her right hand bore a cup of gold,
     With wine and water fild vp to the hight,
     In which a Serpent did himselfe enfold,
     That horrour made to all, that did behold;
     But she no whit did chaunge her constant mood:
     And in her other hand she fast did hold
     A booke, that was both signd and seald with blood,
     Wherein darke things were writ, hard to be vnderstood.

    Fidelia, or Faith, is described as a vision in white, with a glowing halo above her head, holding the golden cup filled with wine, a symbol of baptism and communion, in one hand and a book, signed and sealed with blood in the other.  The written inscriptions are hard to understand because, like in the book of Revelations, you have to have faith to understand. Fidelia and her sister Speranza greet Una and Red Cross Knight first in the House of Holiness, and their sister Charissa, Charity, is the last to appear.  These two are described as virgins, and have a much more innocent appearance than their sister, whose image is more sexual.  Fidelia teaches Red Cross Knight celestial discipline while in the House of Holiness, thus making Red Cross Knight repent, and feel enormous guilt for his sins.
