Taco Stand
The Taco
Stand is one of the most well-loved and frequently visited restaurant in
Athens. They have three locations in Athens, but the one downtown
seems to be the popular favorite. Its high quality Mexican food and
ridiculously low prices have given this little cantina an almost cult-like
following. Many Athenians consider it a mortal sin to go more than
four days without eating at one of the three establishments. This
was the first place I ate when I visited Athens for the first time, and
I suggest that it should be for any other first-time visitors as well.
This particular establishment features a variety of beers as well as frozen
margaritas, and has several big screen t.v.'s that are perfect for watching
a game. The menu features the traditional tacos, burritos, and quesadillas,
and features many vegetarian dishes. The Taco Stand is open all day
and well into the night, and is located on Broad Street next to the Mellow
Mushroom.
