Criteria and Grading for Web Project

Although I am ultimately responsible for grades in this class, because this is a group project, I will ask you to reflect on the processes that went on in your own group. Each of you will be asked to do an assessment of one another, of the web page itself, and of the work of your group as a whole.

CRITERIA FOR THE PROJECT:

* How good is the information? Does the web page provide you with accurate details about the topic?

* How useful is the discussion? Does the web page show how this discussion illuminates the play?

* How attractive and useful are any illustrations?

* How well-written is the web page?

* How strong and useful are the bibliography and links to other pages?

You might want to consult the links to existing pages that discuss "Questions to Consider" when constructing a web page and "How to Judge the Scholarship of Web Pages."

Assessing your Group Work

As I said, I will assign final grades for the project, balancing my assessment of the work of the whole against individuals' contributions to the whole work. I will give you a written report. As part of the evaluation process, however, I would like to consult your judgment about your own work and your colleagues' interaction. These are confidential and advisory. In many ways they will function as faculty's reviews of one another's work. Remember, I am aware that this is a new format of writing and involved many of you in new activities and skills. Be generous and clear-minded. With that in mind, would you take this form and answer the following questions, then give it back to me.

1. In a short paragraph, describe the way in which your group divided up the parts of your project and what your role in the project was. What was your responsibility?

2. In a short paragraph, describe your contribution to the group project. Describe the greatest strength and weakness of your contribution to the entire work.

3. In a short paragraph, identify who, in your opinion, was the most essential person to your project. Describe their contribution in concrete terms.

4. In one final paragraph, offer me a concrete assessment of the contributions of the other group members.
